It would appear that Beatlemania is still alive and well in Mexico. On Dia de les Madres (Mother’s Day), Paul McCartney took to the stage at the Zocalo in Mexico City and put on a free mega concert for 200,000 adoring fans. To the delight of the crowd, the British rocker played all of his famous hits, including “Hey Jude”, “Yesterday”, “Live and Let Die”, “A Day in the Life” and “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, which he performed with Mexican Mariachi band Gama Mil. McCartney was eager to use his Spanish, referring to the crowd as chilangos, a Mexican slang term for people from Mexico City and wishing a happy Mother’s Day to all of the mamacitas in the audience.
