Mexican footballer Chicharito honoured by UNICEF

Mexican national football team and Manchester United star Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández is no stranger to receiving accolades for his performances on the pitch. Now he’s receiving accolades for his performance off the pitch. Hernández has long been known as an advocate for his home country, particularly for Mexico’s poorest youth. It was this dedication that led UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, to designate him as an official ambassador for Mexico. Hernandez is a Mexican sports icon and he now joins the ranks of renowned international football stars who have served as UNICEF ambassadors, including Lionel Messi, Ivan Zamorano and David Beckham.
