Prolific Mexican director Carlos Reygadas made quite a splash at the Cannes film festival this May. The Mexico City-born director, known for his fiery temperament and his unconventional filmmaking style, took home the best director prize at the 65th annual festival for his ponderous film, ‘Post Tenebras Lux’, which in Latin means ‘light after darkness’. The semi-autobiographical film, notable for its unconventional plot, takes place in the small village outside of Mexico City where Reygadas currently resides with his wife and children.
